The Atlantic is looking for a producer/senior producer (title commensurate with experience) to lead the editorial execution of The Atlantic Festival, a three-day juggernaut that takes over several blocks of Washington, D.C.
This festival is part of AtlanticLIVE, the events division of the Atlantic. Over the course of a year, AtlanticLIVE produces more than 100 events, covering any number of subjects -- including race & justice, politics, technology, health, the future of work and education -- that both enlighten and entertain our audiences.
The Atlantic Festival, which takes place in September, stages dozens of events, covering all these subjects and more.
This producer will be responsible for overseeing mainstage programming, as well as all satellite events. To succeed, the producer will need to be creative programmer, with a deep well of contacts. The producer should be able to speak with command to experts and leaders from across many different fields.
The producer should have wide interests -- from the White House to the movies to the stock market -- and anticipates what could make a splash on stage, attracting audiences and coverage from other outlets. But s/he also wants to discover the unknown person whom the world needs to hear from.
The producer is hyper-organized and efficient, able to juggle multiple events with many players. S/he can manage and defuse stressful situations, gracefully and diplomatically.
