Senior Producer, The Atlantic Festival

The Atlantic is looking for a senior producer to lead the editorial execution of The Atlantic Festival and other high-profile events at AtlanticLIVE.

Over the course of a year, AtlanticLIVE produces more than 100 events, covering any number of urgent subjects -- including race & justice, politics, technology, health, the future of work and education -- that both enlighten and entertain our audiences.

The Atlantic Festival, which takes place in September, stages dozens of events, covering all these subjects and more. 

This producer will be responsible for creating mainstage programming, as well as all satellite events. To succeed, the producer will need to be creative programmer, with a deep well of contacts in politics, business, and entertainment. The producer should be able to speak with command to experts and leaders from across many different fields. 

The producer should have wide interests -- from the White House to the movies to the stock market -- and anticipates what could make a splash on stage, attracting audiences and coverage from other outlets.  But s/he also wants to discover the unknown person whom the world needs to hear from. 

The producer is hyper-organized and efficient, able to juggle multiple events with many players. S/he can manage and defuse stressful situations, gracefully and diplomatically. 

The Atlantic Festival Producer Possesses:

  • At least eight years experience in journalism, planning and organizing complex, multi-day festivals;
  • Extensive relationships and contacts in Washington, Hollywood and the business world;
  • Strong news instincts, with the ability to anticipate which speakers will be newsworthy or have rising profiles;
  • The ability to prep moderators for live interviews, including framing conversations and writing probing questions;
  • Experience in stage management;
  • Strong social media and promotion execution;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Bold ambition for expanding our events; 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • A sense of humor;
  • Leadership skills, able to coordinate across teams, from sales to event management to editorial.
