Quartz is launching a new edition—Quartzy—to expand its focus on lifestyle and culture and is seeking writers to help spearhead that expansion with distinct coverage.
Quartzy’s mission is to help readers live well in the global economy by providing guidance on how they might spend their time and money wisely. We’ll be focusing on the luxuries that make our lives richer—fashion, travel, food, culture, design, entertainment, books, technology—as well as the even-more-important intangibles, like family, friendships, wellness, and living a “considered life.” The ideal candidate will have a distinct vision for covering one or several of these topics, be immersed in the social conversation, and have strong instincts for the stories that audiences find engaging. You might be the person we turn to understand why women are flocking to wellness culture or how fast fashion killed Harajuku street style, as well as how to pack lunches that are tastier than takeout or how to build a perfect in-flight amenity kit.
We are looking for someone with a fast metabolism, an entrepreneurial approach to their work, and the ability to convey curiosity and humor in their writing. You should have fresh ideas about how to deliver service- and consumer-focused stories to readers, and feel comfortable with formats other than 700-word articles (such as shorter pieces, photos, and charts). International experience and languages are a plus.
To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, and five links to relevant work. The links matter most.
Across Atlantic Media, generally, the firm looks for two “pillar gifts” in its candidates. In all of us, these are more aspirational than actual, but they are central in our intentions.
1. Force of Intellect - Atlantic Media seeks a discipline and rigor of thought as manifested, often, in exceptional academic performance and, later, success in a professional environment.
2. Spirit of Generosity - Equally, Atlantic Media seeks what we term a spirit of generosity – a natural disposition towards service and selfless conduct.
Atlantic Media is an EOE of Minorities/Women/Vets/Disability.
